Fog Security Camera. Thermal imaging cameras provide detailed images at night and in poor weather like fog. Details on thermal imaging 'fog security cameras' such as the Thermal-Eye TSCXP and Thermal-Eye 5000XP and links to retailers who sell them.

While the term "night vision" often applies to both thermal imaging and image intensification cameras, there is a difference. Infrared (IR) thermal imaging cameras detect the invisible infrared energy that all people and objects emit. While image intensification devices operate by amplifying available light thousands of times to create an apparent pseudo-daytime image.

An image produced by a thermal imaging camera.

The main advantage that thermal imaging offers over image intensification devices is that they provide a more detailed image under typical field conditions. While fog and other forms of precipitation degrade infrared images, thermal imagers can see through dust, clouds, smoke, haze, light fog, light rain and most camouflage.

However, thermal imaging 'fog security cameras' are expensive pieces of equipment which means that they are more common place in the military and industrial markets than used for commercial or home security.
